Silva's journey back to the beach

Silva Beach Story

When Silva first connected with Brightwater at Home, she had one powerful goal in mind: she wanted to walk on the beach again.

As a former professional swimmer, the ocean had always been her happy place. But after a few difficult years that took a toll on her mobility and mental health, it felt like that dream was slipping further and further away.

Everything changed when her new care team stepped in and took the time to listen.

Physiotherapist Chantelle sat down with Silva to understand what really mattered to her. From there, a personalised plan was created, focused on building Silva’s strength and confidence in ways that felt meaningful.

With regular visits from Therapy Assistant Toni and ongoing encouragement from Client Coordinator Lorice, Silva’s progress grew step by step. The team also helped source a custom beach walker, making it safer and easier for her to get back on the sand.

“It was never just about exercise,” says Chantelle. “It was about helping Silva reconnect with something that brought her joy, and building a plan that truly fit her life and goals.”

The journey came with its challenges, including sourcing the right equipment, which required persistence, problem-solving and creativity. But the team stayed focused on making it happen, and their commitment to personalised care paid off.

Today, Silva is back doing what she loves, enjoying time by the water and rediscovering her independence.

Silva’s story is a shining example of how Brightwater at Home supports clients to stay independent, confident and connected to what matters most.
