About Speech Pathology

Brightwater’s speech pathologist services focus on helping clients communicate successfully, using their own abilities to get their message across. This may include writing, drawing, pointing, or using gestures and body language. The goal for speech pathologist services is to help clients convey what they want and empower them to improve their quality of life. Speech pathologist services include: 

  • Techniques and treatments to decrease dysphagia
  • Mealtime management and equipment
  • Communication therapy and supports including augmentative and alternative communication.

What we do best

Brightwater’s Capacity Building Team provides support to people with complex disabilities so they can live as safely and independently as possible while working towards individual goals. They provide services to people who have an acquired or neurological disability, physical disability or psychosocial disability, including:

  • Acquired brain injury (ABI)
  • Stroke
  • Younger Onset Dementia (YOD)
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Damage to the brain caused by substance misuse or disease
  • Mental health conditions and behaviours
  • Physical disability.
