About Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Brightwater’s positive behaviour support services are an evidence-based approach to improving a client’s quality of life by understanding why they engage in concerning behaviours. The goal is to help address unmet needs and build skills to reduce behaviours. Positive behaviour support services include:

  • Specialist assessment
  • Behaviour support plans
  • Improving relationships
  • Identifying and addressing restrictive practices.

Behaviour Support Plans

At Brightwater, our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans are shaped around each person’s individual story. We take the time to understand what matters to them, how they experience the world and what might be behind their behaviours of concern.

As an experienced NDIS provider, our behaviour support practitioners:

  • Use proven, evidence-based, person-centred strategies
  • Start with a full behaviour assessment to understand the 'why'
  • Develop plans that are practical, respectful and effective
  • Take a holistic view of the person, their supports and environment
  • Focus on building capacity, meaningful relationships and lasting change
  • Work closely with families, carers and support networks
  • Support skill-building, confidence and independence.
