About Occupational Therapy

Brightwater’s occupational therapy services are individually tailored for each client to keep them active and safe at home and in the community. They are designed so people with complex disabilities can live with as much independence as they can and achieve their personal goals. Occupational therapy services include:

  • Individualised assessment
  • Intervention and assistive technology scripting to support engagement in meaningful activities
  • Safe seating and positioning practices
  • Learn new and safe ways to manage movement and mobility
  • Community participation activities
  • Minor home modifications.

What we do best

Brightwater’s Capacity Building Team provides support to people with complex disabilities so they can live as safely and independently as possible while working towards individual goals. They provide services to people who have an acquired or neurological disability, physical disability or psychosocial disability, including:

  • Acquired brain injury (ABI)
  • Stroke
  • Younger Onset Dementia (YOD)
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Damage to the brain caused by substance misuse or disease
  • Mental health conditions and behaviours
  • Physical disability.
